For the project on the TV show «Dachny otvet» we manufactured 50 m2 of Engineered wood floor boards with the 4 mm thick wear layer made of solid oak lamella. Significant length of the wood boards (reaching 2 meters) and 155 mm width make it possible to fully uncover the exquisite texture of century-old oak timber. Larger knots and sapwood on the surface of the wood boards type «Kantri», used for this project, animate the flooring, lay accents, and at the same time create a warm and cozy atmosphere. All knots have been professionally processed and filled in the workshop in several steps. This process of wood treatment prevents knots from falling out later after installation.
In order to protect the boards from negative effects of moisture we varnished the wood with intensive white oil Osmo, based on natural components with hard wax. The oil, after contact with tannin inside oak timber, forms random patterns of shades and colour transitions, highlighting unique natural motifs of annual rings on each board. Hard wax in the oil not only creates a protective layer on the wood surface, but additionally gives a pleasant silky-matt glimmer.
